This has been floating around for a minute (I first saw it on, and after seeing Subrosa pencil in their own specs, I realized this is rather interesting. How are the advertised specs produced? Why are they so far off from the actual size? How big is too big? I personally ride the Grave Diggers and love ’em, but get comments on a weekly basis about how massive they are… opinions?

[EDIT] A quick response from a text conversation with Subrosa’s Ryan Sher:

“There’s a difference between advertised and actual width because we can’t measure the tire until it’s made. We have a goal in mind with the design, but there is a big +/- in the tolerance when working with rubber. Also, rim width and tire pressure play a role, too.”
