Mariana Pajon suffered a major setback this past weekend. During the UCI World Cup in Papendal, Pajon crashed during the semi-finals ending her weekend. To make matters worse, we found out today that Pajon suffered what will most likely be a season ending ACL tear. Definitely a gutting time for the “Queen of BMX.”
This is the first time the two time Olympic gold medalist from Colombia has suffered such a major set back. Pajon took to her 1.8 million followers on Instagram to thank everyone after the fall.
“Life is not about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain. Thousands of thanks for all of the positive energy I have received. This is a new challenge and I will face it in the best way. This year has been a roller coaster and now I can only give my best moving forward. I have a great team that is supporting me.”
Mariana Pajon is without a doubt one of the greatest women to ever charge down a BMX track. Her impact in the sport, especially with BMX in Colombia, is one of a kind. We want to wish her the best in her recovery. Pajon is a warrior and I am sure it won’t be too terribly long before we see her charging again. Get well soon, we are cheering for you!
