Daily Staff Update: August 14, 2006

This past weekend was a good one filled with enjoyable down time, reading and riding. On Sunday I rode the Etnies park in the morning, a wee bit of flatland in the afternoon and even hit up the Orange ABA track in the evening. Unfortunately I only got around the track four times before they kicked me out because I’m not an ABA member. It seems that even places made for riding bikes don’t like people to actually ride there.

Keith has been trying to send in updates from the Shadow trip but hasn’t had a ton of luck due to the scarceness of wireless internet in the UK. Last night, however, he was able to send over the following:
“Quick update . . . Trip is going good so far, except for rain and the memory stick that died in my digi cam. I’ve been having lots of bad luck with camera stuff lately. Luckily, I found a new one to purchase downtown. While roaming around a neighborhood searching for a wireless signal the other night, we randomly met a BMX kid at a gas station and ended up at his house using his wireless service. Real cool kid, and his dad was, too. Been dealing with rain on and off every day, but have been shooting some good stuff. Ryan Sher’s been shredding hard every day and today he blasted a huge gap-to-wallride at a park called Ramp Worx in Liverpool. You’ll see the photo sooner than later. Actually everyone has been riding hard and getting photos and clips. Joe Simon has been filming everything in High Definition and the footage looks amazing. One of my flashes got hit twice the other day, but luckily it survived both blasts. Ron Bonner waited until day six to put his bike together. Slacker. He has been busy handing out stickers and reading dirty magazines, so we let him slide. We stayed at Jon Taylor’s house in Chester for a few nights and the crew grew to a dozen. The house and cars have been packed, but it’s good times. We’ve been in London for a few days street riding and it’s been fun, but tomorrow we’re moving on to France, and hopefully better weather. Spent my birthday in traffic and riding about 20 miles with 40-50 pounds of camera gear on my back. And so it goes . . . Hopefully I’ll have more photos and reports soon.”

James Ayres is in the office today and wanted to give his update, so here it goes . . .
” Last Saturday night I headed over to Robbie Miranda’s house for a little party to congratulate UCI Worlds winner Javier Colombo. Mike Day, Derek Betcher, Todd Lyons, Chad Roberts, Darrin Mitchell, Trevor Cummings, Darryl Crews, Robert DeWilde, Tyler Brown, Matt Tischler, Cristian Becerine, and Pete Dylewski (plus their girls, and some other dudes) were all in attendance. What went down? Cannon balls from RM59’s roof into the pool, a tray full of sushi, and lots of tasty beverages… Here are a couple of photos from the evening… It was definitely a good time…”

Ryan Fudger also wrote up an update for you today . . .
“So I spent this weekend not involving any BMX for the most part. I wanted to go to the skatepark on Saturday, but an online traffic check showed 15mph speeds on the freeway . . . pass–stupid tourists causing all this beach traffic. I did have a friend come from out of town for two days from Arizona, we ended up hanging on the beach so she could see escape the hot-box Arizona weather for a bit. Sorry, no photos of me with my shirt off (thankfully). Other than that, I did some work from home in order to have some stuff to be turned in as soon as I got in this morning. Sorry, no wild stories or photos of BMX this time!”

Glenn Milligan is stuck at home today reediting Drop The Hammer for the fifth time. There were problems getting permission for certain songs to go on TV, so a new version will be on FUEL TV in a few weeks. Also, Glenn went to a party this weekend for Corey Bohan. Joy, Corey’s Girlfriend, threw Corey a surprise congrats party for winning the X Games gold medal in Dirt. It was funny night in Corona!

And finally, Jeff Zielinski just got in from Austin and writes you the following . . . “I just got home from a weekend in Austin, where I shot an Odyssey poster with Chase Hawk. It was super hot in central Texas and a large portion of the Austin BMX population was out of town, so due to those two circumstances I didn’t shoot much else besides the poster. I spent most of time hanging out with Joel Moody, we stopped at T1, where Taj was working on a new addition to the ramp, he plans to connect the little skate mini to the main ramp. I also got a chance to shoot a photo with Joel and go swimming at Barton Springs.

Aside from that, I hungout with Chase Hawk and his roomates at their new (and I mean brand new) house. They just got that Guitar Hero video game and played it until 4am every night.”
