You live in Hastings and ride the SOURCE PARK regularly. How did that effect your approach to filming your LOCK IN part?
I've had plenty of time to get used to the park, so I suppose that was nice. It also meant thinking about things for a while before actually doing them, this can lead to weeks and weeks of stress about on trick, haha. It was amazing, though. Being able to go straight home and be completely comfortable after shooting, staying in my own bed, and just having the people around that are usually around made it really comfortable. Half the bowl was closed off for repairs and if I wasn't local there's no way I would have enjoyed riding that bowl without that section. I've been riding half the bowl for weeks now.

Are there any particular clips that you had planned for a while? Any that didn't work out as planned?
Yes 100%. The tire ride on the metal cable cover in the plaza and the boneless footplant on the sub in the small bowl, those both worked out. Then there was a gap to wall drop down manny 180 in the plaza that I've wanted to do for ages but it didn't work when we were filming. I also tried the 360 wall ride from the small bowl to the big bowl that I crashed badly on at the end of filming. I've been thinking about that one for ages…it was scaring me for months leading up to the filming.

Let’s talk about your bike. You built it up fresh for the week, right?
Yeah man, I absolutely love it. My new Mongoose custom frame arrived just in time. It's got the same geometry as my old bike with a few improvements on strength and stiffness. Other than my bars, all the parts are all new, too. I recently decided to part ways with long time sponsor SNAFU and fortunately, Source had my back and hooked me up with some Profile bits which I'm really stoked on.

How do you like your bike set up?
It's a little different now, so I'm still trying to get used to it. I love the Profile hubs--the engagement is next level! The frame feels really nice, but I've gone a link longer on the back and my bars are little higher…it needs a little work to get it right.

Whats next for you? Busy year?
Yes, very busy. In a couple days I'll be in Cape Town filming a Mongoose video. Then I start an interesting project involving a three wheel motorcycle, haha. After that I'll be focussing on the Vans Pro Cup series, Mongoose Jam, and making some videos.

Any thanks?
Thanks to Source for providing the opportunity to shoot a Lock In! Thanks to Tom Creasy for making it happen, to James Cox for smashing it behind the lens and all his design/editing work. Thanks to Ali for pitching in behind the camera and moving ramps around. Thanks to my girlfriend for taking care of me after the injury and of course thanks to my sponsors for always making sure I have what I need to ride.
