Sunday’s plan of attack when releasing their line of complete bikes is to model each machine after the rides of their pro team, but with such a stacked roster, they can’t dole out complete unique bikes to each team member. Erik Elstran & Chris Childs have both been Sunday pros for a few years now, and while their personal bike setups are not incredibly different, their riding styles don’t exactly parallel each other. To cater to fans of either rider, Sunday anointed their 2018 EX complete bike with two different variations catering to the stylistic cues of each rider, but there’s more to point out than just two separate paint schemes. Let’s take a look, shall we?
The 2018 Sunday EX completes toe the line of a mid/pro level complete, featuring numerous aftermarket parts from both Sunday and Odyssey, while featuring geometry that both beginners and experts can easily & quickly adapt to. The 20.75″ frame features 4130 tubing in the spots where it’s needed the most, including the entire front end (including a dent-resistant Wave downtube), chainstays and dropouts. Both models feature fully sealed, female-axle Sunday hubs and double-walled Lightning rims with a 9t RHD cassette in the rear, and both bikes also come complete with a full chromoly fork, Sunday Saker cranks, Odyssey Twisted pedals, Springfield brakes & Path Pro tires. Where the bikes differ are two of the three touch points – the Childs model features Sunday Cloud Tripod seat, while the Elstran model features the Dinowest. Moving back to the front of the bike, the Elstran model features 4 piece 9″ bars capped with Jake Seeley grips, while the Childs model features 2-piece 9″s with Broc Raiford grips. Finally, I guess the most obvious difference would be the paint, right? Erik’s model comes in a black finish, while Chris’s bike comes in clear-coated raw.
