El Cajon, California – Formula riders were once again proving to the BMX world that Formula is the premier frame brand. Factory team superstars AA Pro dR Donny Robinson, 17 Expert Warren McDow, and 12 Expert Chad Kerley made it out to Lake Perris BMX for the ABA Spring Nationals while Elite Woman Amanda Geving hopped over to North Carolina for the NBL’s Tarheel National at Tanglewood.

Donny getting his pull on at ABA Lake Perris

Donny has been the top dog in the Elite Men/AA Pro ranks lately. But, with the return of Bubba Harris to the lineup, dR was excited for an already competitve class to get even harder. Here’s Donny on how the weekend went:

“Practice went pretty good on Friday and Saturday. For some reason the first jump was giving some people a hard time, even though it was only a simple looking double. I wasn’t hitting it as good as some others and it cost me some time in the races. Saturday, I made both the AA Pro and Pro Cruiser mains. It seemed as though on Saturday, Bubba, Kyle Bennett and I were doing the 1,2,3 thing again with Bubba getting first, me second and Kyle third overall. Pro cruiser was a good lap and I won that. Sunday started out decent until my second round AA moto when I tangled with Mike Brabant going into the last turn. I crashed pretty hard and it hurt. I busted my helmet up and my visor cut my forehead pretty bad. I don’t blame ‘ole Mikey for what happened, I was just in the wrong spot. I shook the crash off by making both mains again. AA was same as Saturday with Bubba, Kyle, and me battling with Bubba again winning, Kyle second and this time I got third. In Pro Cruiser, I got a bad gate and was in the back of the pack but moved my way back up to second by the finish line, almost catching Danny Caluag. Pretty tough weekend, good to have Bubba back and the next few months will be interesting…”

With the second and third, Donny holds on to his AA Pro points lead as well as the Pro Cruiser points lead in the ABA. Check out Donny on his Formula Pro Series twenty-incher and cruiser.

Amanda Geving has been a handful in the NBL lately, just coming off another dominating performance in the NBL’s Florida State series. North Carolina seemed to suit Geving fine as well, adding yet another double-double to her long list of accomplishments. Amanda stuck it to the Elite Women’s class, not losing a single lap all weekend. In cruiser, Amanda handily won both mains. Geving retains her Elite Women’s NBL points lead. Amanda Geving rocks out on the Formula Solution Pro Minus Hybrid series.

Formula’s Warren McDow

Back in Lake Perris, Warren McDow flew in late Friday evening into Los Angeles and made the hour-plus drive into Riverside County to try and get some rest for Saturday morning practice. After the 15-minute practice session, McDow felt OK about the track and left it up to motos to dial it in. Warren was once again pulling like crazy all through motos and in the main, McDow had a solid second behind Joe Sowers before Kris Fox just got him at the line. On Sunday, Warren felt better about the track and decided to race 17-24 Open. Warren was in third behind Vance Weisendanger and Steven Cisar most of the track. In the last straight, Warren manualed nearly the whole rhythm section and passed Weisendanger to grab second. In 17-18 Expert, McDow was once again pulling from lane 8, settled in behind Kris Fox and grabbed another second place podium finish for the day. Its great to see Warren getting back to some consistency in the ABA. Now only if we could get him to actually ride his bike when he’s at home. The kid literally leaves his bike in his bike box between nationals. Warren McDominates on his Formula Solution Pro Plus.

Chad Kerly, Lake Perris second straight

Chad Kerley had an up and down weekend in Perris. As Donny was saying, plent of people were having trouble with the first obstacle and Chad was no exception. He just couldn’t keep his wheels on the ground over that jump. As such, Chad was in the mix as always, but had to settle for two seconds in 11-12 Open and two fourths in 12 Expert. Never count this super-grom out, Chad will always be one of the most exciting riders to watch on the planet. Chad Kerley has been killing it on his Formula Solution Expert bike.
