The Bitchin’ Cranks are super strong and easy to install. The square shaped arms also helps with crank arm grinds. There are a ton of pro riders besides our team out there riding our cranks because of the reputation they have developed.

No gimmicks built into the shape of the arms just for the sake of looking different at the expense of strength.
-Sean Curran

What’s in the box?
One set of crank arms, spindle, spindle bolt, a regular sprocket bolt, and a nano drive sprocket bolt.

What were your goals when designing this product?
We kept the arms relatively unchanged, as they are a well-proven design. The spindle has been redesigned though—there is a single crank arm boss and a large hollow spindle bolt to incorporate a 2.5 style design.

Why are your cranks better than others, or what makes them different from others on the market?
The reliability of our Team Crank arm design has proven to be remarkable. Our lifetime warranty offered to the original owner will set this crank apart from various others currently available. The box shape of the crank arms create a great surface for crank arm grinds and the U-shaped miter creates a strong, unique design. We have had an extremely low return on the Team Crank arms for warranty still to this day.

Company: The Shadow Conspiracy
Cranks: Seth Kimbrough signature Noctis Cranks
MSRP: $149.99

Arms: 7050 T-6 alloy arms with dual pinch bolts.
Spindle: 22mm hollow heat-treated 4130 chromoly spindle
Splines: 16
Spindle Bolt(s): Hollow, heat-treated

Colors: Black, White, Crimson Red, Purple, Highlighter Blue, Highlighter Yellow, Raw Polish
Weight: 33.7oz for arms and spindle

Other Info & Details:
Our Seth Kimbrough signature Noctis Cranks feature our proprietary Shadow pedal boss system that allows for an aluminum crank that will not strip out on you. Hydraulically pressed, the pedal boss will not spin when you tighten down your pedals. The cranks are also nano sprocket compatible, and include a 22mm spacer for all sprockets.

What’s in the box?
Crank arms, regular and nano sprocket bolts, pinch bolts, 22mm spacer for sprockets, and space grease!

What were your goals when designing this product?
Seth wanted an alloy crank that was designed in the realm of the original GT Power Series cranks. We went in and attacked the main issue of stripped out pedal bosses and creaky cranks and ended up with the Noctis cranks.

Why are your cranks better than others, or what makes them different from others on the market?
Our cranks feature hydraulically pressed pedal bosses that prevent stripping, a common problem in alloy cranks. We also developed a 16-spline spindle connection that reduces the creaking and wobble that you find in most aluminum crank sets. Plus, Seth rides ’em…is there any other questions?
-Ryan Chadwick

– Mating arm
– Drive arm with integrated spindle
– Spindle bolt
– Sprocket bolt
– Wedge cluster
– Tube of grease for the wedge cluster/bolt
– Various spacers
– Installation instructions
– Warranty card

What were your goals when designing this product?
To design a crank that was lighter and stronger than any other crank available. To meet the weight of these cranks you need exotic materials and thinned out race versions of other cranks. This in turn makes them weaker that the 100% chromoly Twombolts. While the interface is different than standard cranks, it is actually easier to work on than traditional splined cranks.

Why are your cranks better than others, or what makes them different from others on the market?
They have the 41 thermal lifetime guarantee, which is the main reason they are better than anything else you can get. Light, strong, and easy to install. No hammers needed. They are different enough to warrant four U.S. patent numbers: 7,267,030, 7,523,684, 7,523,685, and 7,770,492

flatware11

flatware21

Company: Flatware
Cranks: Socket Drive™ Twombolts
MSRP: $179.99

Arms: 41 thermal, 4130 Chromoly arms
Spindle: Flatware specific, 41 thermal Integrated 22mm hollow spindle, permanently attached to the drive side arm. Integrated Socket Drive™ sprocket shoulder.
Interface: Mating arm attaches to 6 sided spindle via a 6 Wedge Cluster. Socket Drive interface sprocket needed, not included.
Spindle Bolt(s): One hollow bolt, on the mating arm side. Sizes: 160mm Drive Side Options: Right
Colors: Black
Weight: 1 lb 11oz

Other Info & Details:
Socket Drive™ is a royalty-free interface. Please download the spec sheet for dimensions and tolerancing specifications to produce your own Socket Drive™ sprockets.

What’s in the box?
– Mating arm
– Drive arm with integrated Socket Drive™ spindle.
– Spindle bolt
– Wedge cluster
– Tube of grease for the wedge cluster/bolt.
– Various spacers
– Installation instructions
– Warranty card

What were your goals when designing this product?
The goal here was to use the tried and true Twombolt base for a light, strong flatland crank that could take ultra small sprockets. The standard sprocket bolt location only allows for a 24t, or a badly designed 23t. The Socket Drive™ interface does away with a sprocket bolt and uses a tapered nine-sided interface to press fit sprockets. The specs for the Socket Drive™ are available to the public so any company can make the Socket Drive™ sprockets if they wish. As of now I know a 20t and 22t are available from Flatware.

Why are your cranks better than others, or what makes them different from others on the market?
They have the 41 thermal lifetime guarantee which is the main reason they are better than anything else you can get. They are also the only way to use 20t and 22t sprockets correctly.
-Jim Bauer

Big input from the team such as the use of the skateboard grip tape on crank arm with help of Joris Coulomb to archive a slimmer, but still very strong crank.

Why are your cranks better than others, or what makes them different from others on the market?
It's a very strong slim version of the classic trustable three-piece chromoly crank with original features such as the die cut grip that help getting grip while landing a whip or throwing barspins.

What’s in the box?
Two arms, a spindle, the bolts you need, and a crank installer/remover tool. Match it up with a 19mm BB in your preferred style to fit your frame.

What were your goals when designing this product?
A simple, realistic price three-piece 48 spline crank setup. In a time when a lot of two-piece, 2.5pc, spline this, wedge that, complicated setups, we wanted to come out with a simple, functional set that can go up against any other.

Why are your cranks better than others, or what makes them different from others on the market?
Josh Betley had a lot to do with these cranks and started the project right after he started riding for Felt. Started off by sketching different arm shapes that would work for crank slides and then discussing with the smart people in the company what shape would be the strongest. Last step was coming up with the name—Ballpark Cranks. (Get it, haha!) Then to top it off he did an awesome video about them.

What were your goals when designing this product?
Low cost crank set for the rider looking to step up to three-piece cranks for the first time, or a solid replacement set for an OEM bike.

Why are your cranks better than others, or what makes them different from others on the market?
For this product it is all about price—no fancy box, not available in 10 colors. $50 for chromoly crank arms and spindle is pretty insane.

khe1

Company: KHEbikes
Cranks: Erlkoenig cranks
MSRP: 199 €

What’s in the box?
Two crank arms, Ti crank axle, three bolts, and two washers.

What were your goals when designing this product?
Developing our new Erlkoenig cranks, we decided to go back to the basis and offer a simple and strong three-piece crank with 48 splines. No crazy welds or unnecessary gimmicks, just a classic crank based on a trusted design. Like our Hindenburg three-piece cranks in the past, the Erlkoenig comes with a light Ti6Al4V titanium hollow spindle and a reasonable price.

Why are your cranks better than others, or what makes them different from others on the market?
The crank has a simple three-piece design, but still we wanted to innovate and offer more than a basic crank. The Erlkoenig crank is the first crank ever to feature fluted CrMo crank arms. Function and strength have been tested extensively in labs and by our riders. With improved squared shape, our exclusive crank arms are very stiff, solid and light. In addition it comes directly with a Ti6Al4V titanium hollow spindle, which results in the lightest crank set on the market.

We have used the same Invest casting technology as on the 2011 signature frames and the Agua forks. This gives the Dolmen Cranks a nice, smooth and clean look, but also means there is no welding on the pedal boss and makes it all-together a stronger arm and crank set.

Why are your cranks better than others, or what makes them different from others on the market?
These are the first chromoly cranks with a patented on- piece arm-pedal boss, which completely avoids pedal boss breakage and with bend resistant. D shape arms also patented by Fly Bikes you probably have the most advanced BMX crank set on the market.

What’s in the box?
– Crank arms
– Spider bolt (if not "no boss")
– GDH spindle with GDH bolts
– 7mm Allen wrench
– Crank tool

What were your goals when designing this product?
The first set of Profile cranks were made in 1979 and were designed to offer multiple variations on crank arm length and easy access to sprocket replacement. Beyond that, we wanted to make a more rigid crank design that would create a better weight to strength ratio. An interesting bit of info is that Profile Racing offered the first 48-seration style spindle to the BMX market.

Why are your cranks better than others, or what makes them different from others on the market?
"Better" is a bit subjective. How about I list some facts about our cranks:
– Profile cranks are made right here in our factory in St. Pete, Florida, USA!
– Profile cranks come standard with our lightweight, hollow GDH spindle and bolts.
– Overall, our cranks are manufactured through a rotary swaging process, which allows for a stronger (and more stiff) tubular section with optimization on weight savings.
– As of this year, Profile will surpass the 1,000,000 crank mark over 32 years.

To make a set of cranks with no gimmicks, no weird obscure design that will break in six months time. We just designed a simple lightweight crank arm that will last for years to come. Also, the spindle is butted, which means its machined inside which will save a lot of weight.

Why are your Cranks better than others, or what makes them different from others on the Market?
Royal cranks have a great reputation and they are have been tested with the WTP team and fans for a long time now. We have produced these cranks for years, and if they didn't last we wouldn't keep making them. Also, maybe one of the strongest factors is that we have had zero warranty issues in the last three years with these cranks, and because of that it's safe to say these are cranks for life.
