BOX COMPONENTS ACQUIRES STEALTH HUBS

BOX Components announced today that they have acquired Goleta, CA based Stealth Hubs. The news comes rumbling through the industry after the rumor mill churned for months. Not only does this takeover mean a lot for BMX, it is also a big time boost for their more aggressive push into the MTB market.

The announcement came out that they had acquired only the Stealth Hubs portion of parent company True Precision Components. This included key designs and intellectual property related to the Stealth product line. This is obviously a big feather in the cap for founder Toby Henderson. The great product now has a full BMX brand driving the ship. As stated in the press release, the additional resources provided by BOX will facilitate faster delivery of new products, features, and functionality.

“We recognize the advantages the Stealth hub provides such as instant engagement, silent coasting, and durability,” said Toby Henderson. “With this acquisition, we’re well positioned to accelerate the expansion of this technology into our ever-growing drive train ecosystem.”

As part of the buyout, Box has also become the sole service provider for any warranty claims for Stealth. This certainly could mean great things for Stealth as their largest competitor, Onyx, continues to be leading aftermarket hub in BMX racing. Having the backing of one of the most prominent brands will definitely aide in propelling the Stealth hub further towards the future of BMX.
