Know Your Roll – Volume War Horse Pegs/Thunder Blue Colorway

Well folks, we're halfway done with winter, and if you're anywhere that actually experiences the true pain that is snow & ice and doesn't have an indoor park, you're probably staring at your bike & thinking of new shit to try when the world thaws out in a few months. You're probably also tuning the thing up, possibly repainting it and finally replacing those bent parts you've been ignoring for a while. Winter isn't the prime time for brands to release new product, but let us not forget that the holiday season also produces scenarios like the one I just talked about, plus there's that whole fat jolly guy coming down the chimney thing that manages to empty parents' bank accounts for a few months, so BMX sales don't exactly shut down just because half of the country can't pedal outdoors anymore. Being a California-based company means Volume isn't affected by the season at all, so releasing new items like the War Horse peg and Thunder Blue parts while other brands are taking a holiday break seems like a smart move.

First up on the new item list are the War Horse pegs. If you missed our previous War Horse KYR, the War Horse line is in honor of Demarcus Paul, and his signature input on this PC peg was a specific PC compound to last longer, along with a 4.5″ length and a 7075AL core to keep the pegs light & stiff. To spruce up the War Horse line a little bit, Volume added a new “Thunder Blue” colorway to the entire War Horse line, along with the Anchor fork and the Mad Dog 4-piece bar. Thunder Blue is similar to the previous black-splattered rust finish, but replacing the matte red with a matte blue that, to me, is very reminiscent of Ruben’s first Macneil frame, which is certainly worthy of a tribute.

The entire line of Volume War Horse products in both Thunder Blue and the remaining options of raw and rust colors are available now at all Volume dealers and from Volume direct. The War Horse PC peg is available for $20.99, which includes 2 sleeves and one core. Replacement sleeves are available for $6.99 individually. The War Horse frame is available in both 20.8″ and 21″, and retails for $329.99, while the matching bars run $67.99-73.99 depending on your choice of color, and if you prefer 4-piece, the Mad Dog bars are available at the exact same price. Finally, the Anchor forks ring up at $139.99-149.99, once again, depending on your favorite color.
