Know Your Roll – Éclat Coda Fork

Éclat made headlines earlier this month when they signed one of the titans of modern street riding, Ty Morrow, onto their pro team. Ty’s arrival did not come without some controversy, but that had more to do with Ty and his previous employer and not so much with his new German component sponsor. Matter of fact, we’re beginning to approach a decade of Eclat’s existence in the BMX world, and in that time, they’ve managed to build themselves up as one of the most respected, trusted, and well-engineered brands in the business, being backed by the reputation of We The People and hosting a diverse team of some of the best riders worldwide. With that said, let’s talk about the newest fork steering the front end of Ty’s bike – the Éclat Coda.

The Coda fork from Éclat is not the newest addition to the Éclat lineup, but the fact that most of the Éclat stands behind it is a good indication of its value.  The Coda fork is built with the same quality materials that you’ve come to expect from the brand, consisting of post-weld liquid heat-treated seamless 4130 chromoly; quite the mouthful to explain, but trust that you’re getting the strongest tubing possible. Additional detail comes with spiral fluting & internal butting, which increases strength while also reducing weight as safely as possible. The fork legs also feature clearance for tires up to 2.5″ and no taper, which I appreciate, and I would imagine many riders who cut their teeth during the mid-school era (like team rider Sean Burns) also aesthetically prefer. Topping the fork legs is a one-piece CNC’d steer tube, featuring a built-in 45 degree bearing race and a 7075-TG top cap, while the bottom of the fork features investment-cast chromoly dropouts in either 26mm or 32mm offset, catering to quick spins or full-throttle sprints respectively. The Coda fork weighs in at just over 2.25 pounds, offering a great balance between weight & strength, and if any of the above info has you feeling even a little bit leery of making the switch, know that Éclat stands behind the Coda with a full lifetime guarantee.

The Éclat Coda fork is available now at all Eclat retailers & mailorders. Tighten up your front end for only $139.99, in your choice of black or chrome, regardless of your offset preference.
